Zajc Dane:
Scorpions

loners

light hurts them

they nourish themselves on shards of dusk

they live in worm ridden towers

homeless

squeezed between the stones

in cracks, crevices

flattened by the weight

which rolls over them

at times they shoot up up into the silence

up up into the coldness

at times their white blood quivers in voiceless songs

on the summit of solitude

there under a rainy night

they climb and let out a silent scream

from a distant heart answers a distant scream

and the screams multiply

in the dismembered depths

deep down under a black sky

they quickly burn

and silently fade

they live with their poison

aimed at their own hearts
