Slovenian Community Centre - Melbourne

The Centre in Melbourne, Australia consists of Baraga House, the church of St.Cyril and Methodius and the church hall and the Mother Romana Home for the Aged. It has been since 1960 the hub of Slovenian spiritual, social and cultural life. It contains also the Baraga Library, the Office of the journal Misli and Slomšek School.

Community Photolog

The collection of albums represent celebratory events in the life of Slovenian community in Australia and Slovenia.

Australia has become a second home for about 25,000 Slovenes, who started to arrive in greater numbers since 1950. They have settled in all the states of Australia, the majority in Melbourne and Sydney area.

The series of albums has been inaugurated with events in the Melbourne Slovenian community and parallel traditional celebrations in Slovenia, reflecting the common experience of two homelands and frequent exchange visits.
