400 Years Old Vine Festival in Victoria

A cutting of the 400 years old vine of Maribor was brought to Victoria by Vinko Rizmal. It was auctioned and bought by McWilliams Vinery. It was agreed that Slovenes hold an annual vine festival at McWilliams Vinery in Dandenongs. It has become a popular event for Slovenian community.

Community Photolog

The collection of albums represent celebratory events in the life of Slovenian community in Australia and Slovenia.

Australia has become a second home for about 25,000 Slovenes, who started to arrive in greater numbers since 1950. They have settled in all the states of Australia, the majority in Melbourne and Sydney area.

The series of albums has been inaugurated with events in the Melbourne Slovenian community and parallel traditional celebrations in Slovenia, reflecting the common experience of two homelands and frequent exchange visits.
