The Cow Festival 2007

The Cow Festival/Kravji bal has a long tradition, stemming from the custom of driving cows to the mountain pastures in spring and summer, where they eat the best mountain grass. They are milked by the shepherds, who send milk, butter and cheese regularly to the homestead in the valley. The return of the herd is an occasion for celebration, which has become a popular festival.

Slovenian Travelog albums reflect the impressions and images of Slovenian landscapes and inhabited spaces in all their fascinating versatility and regional differences. Sasha Ceferin will be sharing more of her journeys of discovery of this unique and fairy-tale landscape and is inviting other all who are recording Slovenia's many beauties to contribute their own albums and share their own visual experiences of Slovenia.

Sloveniana Photolog

The collection of visual impressions of Slovenian landscape, both rural and urban, is a photographic attempt to present a multilayered historical country with deep imprints of the long and fascinating history of Slovenia, traced through preserved historical buildings, townships and villages, and museums which contain ancient artifacts and documents.

There is a particular focus on the capital city Ljubljana, with its 2,000 years recorded history, which is reflected in phenomenal urban planning, architecture from Roman to the post-modern period, and exciting recent archeological discoveries.

Slovenia is comprised of six topographical regions, possessing a complex network of watercourses and lakes. The albums offer a panoramic view of the diversity of Slovenian regions, from the snow-covered peaks of the Alps, and fertile Pannonian plains in the north, the rolling green hills of the centre and thermal mineral springs of the north-east, to the mysterious Karst with its wonderous caves and vanishing waterways, and the picturesque Adriatic coastline in the south.
