Slovenian Language Classes

Slovenian language was taught as an elective subject in the state school Victorian School of Languages from years 7 to 12 during the period 1977 to 2005. Altogether 500 students have attended Slovenian classes during this time. 82 students have completed the VCE/ Victorian Certificate of Education, which became one of the 4 or 5 subjects required for university entrance.

Community Photolog

The collection of albums represent celebratory events in the life of Slovenian community in Australia and Slovenia.

Australia has become a second home for about 25,000 Slovenes, who started to arrive in greater numbers since 1950. They have settled in all the states of Australia, the majority in Melbourne and Sydney area.

The series of albums has been inaugurated with events in the Melbourne Slovenian community and parallel traditional celebrations in Slovenia, reflecting the common experience of two homelands and frequent exchange visits.
