Old Vine Harvest 2008

The 400 year old vine festival of Maribor has been transplanted to Victoria 8 years ago, and celebrated every year by the Slovenian community. 2008 was the first year that the festival has been held at the harvest time in Australia and harvested according to Slovenian custom.

Community Photolog

The collection of albums represent celebratory events in the life of Slovenian community in Australia and Slovenia.

Australia has become a second home for about 25,000 Slovenes, who started to arrive in greater numbers since 1950. They have settled in all the states of Australia, the majority in Melbourne and Sydney area.

The series of albums has been inaugurated with events in the Melbourne Slovenian community and parallel traditional celebrations in Slovenia, reflecting the common experience of two homelands and frequent exchange visits.
