Beekeeping in Slovenia
Tu pride flash
Beekeeping is an ancient tradition in Slovenian territories. Based in that tradition, Anton Janša was appointed the first apiculture teacher of the first apiculture school in the Hapsburg Empire of the 18th century. Janša brought his Slovenian experience and skill in beekeeping, and innovations, such as the stacked beehives and painted beehive panels, which were the beginning of the Slovenian folk-art of "panjske končnice".
