Aboriginal rock paintings in Australia are an amazing and aweinspiring phenomenon. They are to be found in all the rocky places of Australia where the tribes sheltered and have remained, constantly retouched, refreshed and repainted through millenia. Some paintings are si old that they don't relate to the living memory of any Aboriginal group. and are often claimed to be the work of spirits. The paintings in Ubirr, Kakadu National Park are of such international significance that the area has been declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO.

Australiana Photolog

Australia is home to many Slovenes and their descendants and is a favoured travel destination for enthusiasts in Slovenia.

Australiana Photolog was launched with thematic albums of Melbourne, the capital of the state Victoria. Its multicultural population is now 3.7 million, over a quarter Melbournians born overseas. Selected images capture the many facets of a dynamic and prosperous city, regarded as the cultural, culinary and sporting centre of Australia, and impressions of urban Australia as it is reflected in its major centre and the state of Victoria in the south-east of Australia.

We invite our Australian public to contribute the photographic records of their own corner of Australian continent with its many diverse landscapes and scenic beauties.

We have begun by presenting the album The Red Centre of Australia, with the Ayer's Rock or Urulu, as it has been named by the oldest inhabitants of Australia and some striking features of this fascinating area.

Australian Travelog

The gallery aims to record and share online the visual impressions of visitors to the Australian continent. We are launching the gallery with the photographic record of the traveller from Slovenia - Maja Obreza. She began her journey in Brisbane and her initial experiences were of Queensland and Northern Territory, continuing over the centre, to Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney.

We invite other visitors of Australia to send us their own visual impressions and impact of the visit.
