ABOUT THE SLOVENIAN LEARNING EXCHANGE PROGRAM
This is the first secondary program for Australian students, and the initiative was made by Sasha Ceferin the Director of ISSV. The initial contact made betweeen Sasha Ceferin and Joze Mlakar, while she was in Slovenia in 1999. Mr. Mlakar is the principal of The Diocesan Classical Gymnasium, and he was very interested in establishing contacts between students in his school and students of Slovenian in Australia.
These scholarships have been provided by the Office for Slovenes Abroad of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs; and was facilitated by Dr. Zvone Zigon.
Ten scholarships a year are also offered to Australian students who have completed secondary school, by the Office for Slovenes Abroad.
The students are tremendously excited and wish to express their appreciation and thanks to: the Slovenian Government, The Office for Slovenes Abroad, and the Principals of the Schools, and all those involved for making this possible, and ISSV which took the initiative and is acting as mediator on their behalf.
