The Slovenian Emigrant Archivists Seminar 2008
The seminar from 14 to 19 September was held at several locations in Ljubljana at: ZRC SAZU, the National and University Library (NUK), Studia Slovenica Archive at the Classical Secondary College of St. Stanislav in St Vid, RTV Slovenia, Slovenian Ethnographic Museum, and Slovenian House in Čedad, the historic Slovenian town on the border in Italy. Participants are from: Argentina, Australia, Canada, Germany, Macedonia, Netherlands, Serbia, Sweden, United States of America, and Uruguay.
It was an intensive, high quality series of lectures and introductions into systems of archiving and digitalizing valuable historical records. The seminar was organized by: Office for the Government of the Republic of Slovenia for Slovenes on the Borders and around the World, in co-operation with Archives of the RS, and the Institute for Slovenian Immigration (ZRC SAZU).
The aim is to preserve all materials of cultural heritage significance as a record of Slovenian presence throughout the world. Archival work by the visiting participants and colleagues is done on a voluntary basis. The contribution of the Republic of Slovenia is to provide training and some material assistance.
