Mozetič Brane:
As Life Grows More And More Intense
as life grows more and more intense the pain grows
sharply, constant jostling across streets
long wanderings through woods
hand in hand, slow floating down a river
where you sense the shores but can’t resist
the current, more kisses, and farewells, more
words, more lies, more hesitation
in your step, and fewer chances to retreat
less hope, the shining moments - gone
river, your power monstrous, boundless
you grind me in the rapids
disgorge me in the sea, for fish
for bathers, your pain is broader
deeper, dark, it mixes with the salt, acidic
consumes the body, the last remains
of a luxuriant, prodigal life
making room for anxiety, constant.
